Earthquake Sound Corporation is the original inventor of the Shallow Woofer System (SWS) that revolutionizes how we experience bass in compact spaces. The SWS 6.5, 8, 10, and 12-inch low-profile subwoofers embody this innovative technology, enabling massive bass production from a small, shallow mount application. With a unique inverted style cone design, the SWS maximizes excursion capability, allowing for deep bass performance where conventional subwoofers won’t fit.
Pioneered by Joseph Sahyoun and safeguarded by multiple global patents, the SWS’s low-profile, patented design provides the flexibility to place the subwoofer in almost any location. Its intelligent design moves the flexible suspension components, including the cone and spider, to the side, thus enabling an elevated motor while reducing the mounting depth of the speaker. This creates space for enhanced excursion capability, resulting in powerful bass performance that defies its compact form. More excursion directly translates to more impactful sound, providing a premium audio experience without compromising space.
In conclusion, the Earthquake Sound SWS series sets the standard for shallow-mount subwoofers, offering an unparalleled combination of patented technology, low-profile design, and superior bass performance. Whether for automotive, marine, or home audio applications, the SWS redefines what is possible in compact spaces, ensuring that no location is off-limits for outstanding bass.

These are great replacement for under seat subwoofers on BMW vehicle. I have used them in 2014 X3 F25 and just used them in my 2020 X3m F97 big improvement. Highly recommend. My only concern was the don't offer a plug to connect to the factory harness. I had to make my own because i didn't want to cut the factory harness.
5.0 out of 5 stars Highly recommend. Great replacement SUB for BMW's
Greatly improved bass response!...No distortion at high volumes!...Competitive alternative to BAVSound and other higher end mid base subs for BMWs....
Very good speakers, needs amp to reach full potential but still sounds good without em, comes with company warranty also
Perfect fit of you have a BMW Sound great with stock amp
These were direct drop ins for my 2012 BMW X5M...they sound pretty solid. Will be putting a small amp on them soon
I paired these up with the JL Audio xd600/6 crossed at 120 hz and it is pure audio bliss. The bass is thick and rich. Is not club style throbbing bass for EDM, but for rock, funk, disco, soul, it is excellent— tight, articulate and powerful. Everybody who I demonstrate my car audio comments on how clear and tight it sounds and I get immense enjoyment from listening to it every day. The only thing to be aware of is that as other people have commented, you need to be prepared to creatively make the area on top of the subwoofer provide an inch or so more clearance for the subwoofer to move back-and-forth without hitting the grill. I accomplished this by putting a piece of wood as a spacer on the two sides of each subwoofer and then getting extra long 2 inch screws to screw the grill back in. It is completely not noticeable after closing everything up because this area ends up being entirely under the seat.
I have installed a lot of stereo systems, so I know a good sub when hear one, and subs this size generally dont really fulfill the role of "subwoofer" very well. These outperform any 8,10, even some 12 inch subs! The designers knew what they were doing when they came up with these. The bass is impressive, tight, controlled, and not boomy under heavy power. I definitely found every loose panel, screw, trim piece. These are worth every dime.
My trans am convertible now sounds like a powerhouse after replacing the rear speakers with these. This car is challenging due to the mere 2" of depth available. Ignore reviews that say these speakers sound like farts or buzzing bees. Those people probably didn't install correctly.
They’re not mind blowing upgrades but they definitely are much better than the original ones. Much better reverberating bass and thumping bass. Better register and pretty clear. Be careful cause you do have to remove the top protector so stuff if in the floorboard will roll onto them sometimes, coins and paper are the worst lol. Other than that great.
What you get in the box .... speaker, spacer with wiring and a trim ring (which wasn't necessary in my application.) Yes, you must cut the factory speaker connection. But the spacer ring makes the wiring easy. Just trim about 1/2 inch off the wire shielding, push down on the buttons, and insert. Set speaker into hole on top on the spacer ring and screw into place. No carpet trim was required. Replace factory cover. DONE! While the fit is great I'm not 100% sold on the cost. I've had other subwoofers with more boom for less money.
Dropped these into my BMW G30 5-Series as drop-in replacements, being driven by the stock hi-fi system. Big upgrade from stock, well worth the money. I waited too long to do this, should have been one of my first changes. Nice mid-bass kick, sounds like it should have all along. I may add a dedicated sun later on, but enjoying these very much for now.
Sound great. Have a 400w amp supplying power. I had the Hi-Fi system and these easily outperform.Easy to replace. Make sure if you are snipping wires to cut as close to plug to leave room to strip and plug in. Have to remove all the plastic covers on the seats before unbolting and tilting back. I did not disconnect my battery while tilting the seats.
Fitted subs in factory enclosures, powering with JL Jd400/4. Complete transformation of the cabin, when you pump up the volume with bass heavy tracks, you can feel the seats vibrate with Bass. If you dont want to lose boot space with an enclosure, this is the perfect compromise!
These things are a definite upgrade from the weak stock subs I had in my E60 hifi system. I run them from an aftermarket amp and they give good clean crisp bass. They aren't going to set off any car alarms in the neighborhood when you drive by but I was going for a set up that stimulates my home studio set up and these worked out perfect for what I was looking for.
LIKE EVERYONE IM SURE YOU LOOKED INTO BAVSOUND FOR YOUR UPGRADE UNFORTUNATELY THERE GHOST SUBS ARE REALLY EXPENSIVE. I’ll tell you that these do an amazingggg job extremely clear sound !
I installed these subs into my BMW 335i e92 under my seats easy install and I have to say they are a huge upgrade from the stock subs
Huge improvement over the factory speakers especially when paired with an after market amp.
Although I didn’t take any photos, of the installation into my 2012 BMW 750, First off at least in the BMW F02, let me say these are high quality subs, (OMG) at last a product that fits, they fit perfectly under the seats into the OEM housing, without any problems, and I was able to install the OEM cover plate also. So when I tested the sound Quality I can clearly hear and feel the difference it is like night and day, You won’t believe the quality of deep bass, it’s truly amazing in fact it’s a shame BMW don’t use these in there logic systems for the low end, the sound is amazing. Okay the price point @ $265 is truly worth it, you can’t go wrong. I can’t compare to the others out there that retail for $500, but for half the price I paid they sound absolutely perfect in my install. From Jazz to HipHop these thing preform amazingly with deep low’s for HiPHop and the perfect lows for Jazz. so if your factory subwoofer sound disgusting take it from me try these you won’t be sorry.
Installed these in my saddle bags. Good sound, make sure you have power behind them.
Definitely added some much needed Midbass!!!! Thinking about also replacing the soundbar with these.
They sound good still in the process of breaking them in.
Install is straight forward other than the fact my stock speakers had 4 wires. These need to be bridged together and shoved into the speaker terminals which was some work. I installed them into the stock under seat speaker boxes they fit perfectly. Overall very good, they fit perfectly and sound really nice with the stock amp, worth the money for sure.
These sound better then the Harmon Kardon woofers my car came with. If you’re putting these in your bmw, you will need the adapter rings. You will notice the difference. After install I had to address loose side skirt issues for noise/vibration. These are not plug and play! You do not need to cut the factory connector off if you have some common sense.
great sound, my car has bass now, use on the rear doors of my F150
Installed these SWS-8Xi in my F30 with the bmw HI-FI sound and it was a very good upgrade in bass.
After looking everywhere, it became very difficult to find a “free-air” shallow subwoofer. Thank goodness BMW uses this sub or I’m not sure I would’ve found what I was looking for. They ended up working perfect for my rear door sub setup for my IQC truck. Seriously, everything Earthquake makes bangs.
sound better but not sure I would order again
4.0 out of 5 stars Sounds better but dont think your getting a set of 12's in the trunk
I see lots of reviews about the sound. But if installed correctly. They sound good. I for one love them. They fit perfectly in the factory spots on my ford truck. Very easy to install and hook up. I set my EQ to the sound I want and they sound great.
Worked great at first I replaced the 6.5 speakers with sws and I wasn’t happy then added a 600 watt amp and they bang I have them in replace of a speaker with two 4inch tweeter in the back it’s a cheap up grade with out the ugly box the amp I ran was really small and the set up doesn’t make my bolt gauge move at all nice cheap up grade they fit like a normal speaker but pack a fat punch for 6.5
4.0 out of 5 stars Needs a amp to really bang other wise there soft pick up a cheap 400 t0 600 watt amp
Easy to install just like any other speaker and they sound great. Running these through the head unit and still provide good lows. I am confident that if hooked up to an amp they would deliver some awesome deep bass. Definitely worth the purchase and would purchase again.
For such a shallow sub, it really kicks out the base. you can get it to clip very easy but it sounds outstanding.
Folks, i've got a pair of woofers for my 6 series convertible to add some punchy bass to my Logic7 system and what a difference it is!! I highly recommend it, amazing value for money. Sound has improved to a different level. Go for it!
Like most others with an E60 BMW with Logic 7 the bass was never punchy and overall flat. I installed the Earthquake's over the holiday and am beyond happy...Although I am far from an audiophile Boston to Pavarotti sound like I am sitting in concert. There are scores of people on the BMW forums that mention adding a dedicated amp to drive the subs, but, honestly these have made such a dramatic difference i would like to keep my low frequency hearing in my old age. Additionally, the cost savings over BSW and AlphaOne's is enough to have a nice dinner out. It is great to see a USA logo on a product that provides constant fulfillment/enjoyment. Thanks Abraham. If you are even remotely considering a BMW sub upgrade do not hesitate. Install the Earthquake's. FYI, the BMW installation rings are included so no need to buy them separate. This is not mentioned on the box or in the product info - so hopefully this will save someone a return.
5.0 out of 5 stars What an improvement to BMW Logic 7 - Do NOT Hesitate
I intended these to be my door speakers in an s10, but it sounded terrible in that space with all the rattling. So, I built a box and put both speakers in. This thing bumps. It would be an equivalent of a solid 10" sub.
These a the BEST SUBWOOFER BMW replacement speakers I have ever hear ! The bass in my BMW E90 is CRAZY . Also the company has the best Customer Service I have ever had the pleasure of dealing with . If you have a vehicle that has little room for sub woofers BUY THESE ONES !!!
They are loud and are relatively easy to power. however I had planned to mount these in my rear doors for sub and a little fill mid-bass. My doors are not the most sturdy of mounts, since its a base model ford fiesta, but even with sufficient sound dampening the plastic trim and plastic inner assembly itself would reverberate harshly. My recommendation is just to build some small boxes for them, (the subs even have a convenient instruction on doing so) and sticking them under the seats. Without the issue of mounting them, these babies hit pretty well. I actually had a 500 wrms 12" sub enclosure and amp hooked up too, and was surprised at how two 6.5 100 watt subs stayed relatively audible until i hit closer to RMS on the 12".
Great product. Now can even feel the music nice replacement for underseat stock woofer in bmw. Thx
They add bass but it's boomy. We made small sealed boxes stuffed with poly fill. They are under the front seats in our 2016 JK Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. They are both powered by (1) Pioneer GM-D8601. They do add missing bass but they have a very boomy bass response. Modeling them in a free program called Winisd, in their ideal sealed box volume, they have a 3db peak between 50 and 60 hz. No matter how I alter the box volume in the program there is no way to get rid of this peak. Using a better double din car stereo like the Kenwood DDX774BH you can reduce some of the excessive boom-iness using the equalizer. Our not ideal small boxes have about a 5db peak which makes everything sound excessively boomy. We just moved our DDX774BH to our daily driver and put the DDX272 back in the Jeep. The Kenwood DDX272 lacks the better equalizer so we had to turn the subwoofer way down to alleviate the boom-iness. We have had them in the Jeep for about a year and they are still going strong. Pros: +Affordable +They add more bass than any normal car speaker can +Play plenty loud with clean power Cons: -Boomy
Was found of earthquake back in the early 90s big bass sound, these sounds great and live up to thier name. With a little modification to the factory box, they fit perfectly in my wife's 07 jeep jk powered by Fosgate PBR300X2 motorcycle amp. And paired with a set of Kenwood tweeters. Would definitely recommend these.
Fit like a glove with the BMW adapter they sell separately. This was an upgrade to my bang and olfsun in my 2014 X5 F15. This thing (2Ă— 4ohm) should have come with the $3k+ B&O system. A must have, you won't regret it. Careful on install with all the clips and covers... don't force anything. You will need about 6 inches extra of speaker wire (3 per side). Huge difference, be easy on them while they break in.
Rather surprised by these 6.5 subs. I have them in the rear sound bar of a 98 jeep grand Cherokee 5.9. Give them about 75% of their rms and they got like full subs with crazy depth. Ran them with just aftermarket head unit power tied through rear doors for a while. Still did pretty good. Accented my Polk db652s amazingly. Don't be fooled by their size, they can hit pretty hard, don't need big amp and subs now. I'd rather have these then my set of Rockford fosgate 12s.
The install didn't take that long. Quality is great! After install I queued up a few bass hits and it handle the sound excellently. The only issue I had was the way it came through the mail. It arrived in the original box where everyone knew it was a speaker. I would have prefer it boxed up. It still arrived intact. I am keeping the 5 stars because the product itself is working excellent. Thank you!
5.0 out of 5 stars Quality is great! After install I queued up a few bass ...
Fitment for the 2010 BMW X5 (E70)... Time is 1.5 to 2 hours 1. remove seats (unhook battery prior to unplugging ASR) OR unbolt seats and tip them WAY back 2. remove old speakers from housing 3. on the lip plastic lip put a thin foam tape to seal it.(careful not to overlap) 4. place the speaker directly on the foam tape. 5. use a bunch of the foam tape to block the wire port left by the old speaker. 6. place new speaker in. 7. Place foam spacer OVER the speaker edge. 8. Place plastic housing ring that comes with the speaker over that. 9. obtain and using 1" screws, secure assembly together 10. Place back into sub box under seat and secure. 11. follow the +/- guide on the old assembly to hook wires up. I used wire nuts, but you can use the lugs. 12. you will not be able to put the cover back on, so, you can leave them off or just figure something out to cover the holes. I just left mine uncovered. You do whatever you want. 13. Test speakers. 14. obtain a total of 8 washers for the seat. 3mm in thickness, and place these down on the seat track bolt holes. These are for clearance of the seat track and speaker housing. 15. Secure seat. Done.
I installed these two woofers on rear door panels. I have JBL GTO629 Premium 6.5-Inch on the front. In order to benefit the bass sound from these speakers, you want to spend good amount of time adjusting the output on your car stereo. If you setup the speakers similar to my configuration, try these steps: 1) Go to bass level adjustment on your car stereo and turn it up high. 2) Go to the front & rear balance and adjust the front output to zero while the rear is at max. (In this way, you will only hear the bass sound) 3) Play your music and turn up the volume until you get a good bass sound at comfort level. (Remember the volume level) 4) Go back to front & rear balance and increase the front output slightly. 5) Play the music at the volume level you have recorded at Step 3. 6) If you are satisfied, all done. If not, re-adjust the front output.
5.0 out of 5 stars Car stereo was able to power these speakers. Car windows rolled down without hitting 🙂
I got 2 of these to replace the factory under seat woofers in my BMW. For what it is, it really makes great bass, certainly much better then the boomy and soft sounding Harmon Kardon system that came with the car. So instead of just hearing deep sounding bass, you can now feel it. On top of that, the factory speakers can't reproduce the really low bass. From my experience, the bass rolls off at nearly 100hz! So anything under 100hz, you can barely hear it. With the new amp and these speakers, you can hear all the way down to 20hz. You can FEEL it all the way down 20hz. Of course, these will never be as powerful as a 12" sub box in the trunk, but if need as much trunk space as I can get, then these should satisfy your bass needs without sacrificing any trunk space. FYI, I paired this with a Kenwood 500W (@2ohms) mono amp and it's a great match. A mistake many people make is getting an amp to match the speakers RMS handling 1:1. However, to properly power subwoofers, you will want an amp that's 1.5x to 2x the RMS handling power. Also, if you're putting this is the BMW F30, you will need the adapters and remove the little "fins" inside the sub enclosure to make this it properly.
These little guys thump. Powered with a 100W amp. I was impressed. I installed them in the rear doors of my 05 Dodge Ram (took some cutting because the openings were for 5.25" speakers). A few things to note: the connectors are in an odd location (opposite sides and very close to the mounting edge, and the woofer needs about 1.5" of space above the speaker for the cone to travel. You will need about a 5 5/8" hole to mount these, and little less than 2" depth.
5.0 out of 5 stars Great little subs. *Make sure to check for top side clearance if mounting under factory panels.
