The Earthquake EQ5S8 Cloth Surround Speaker is part of the EQ line of maximum musical output drivers. These drivers were specifically designed to provide smooth, low distortion midrange/midbass output for the highest-quality sound reinforcement applications. Because of their relatively high resonance and very low Qts value, the EQ line can be mounted in small enclosures while maintaining a smooth, peak-free resonance.
The EQ5S8 driver is fitted with a sealed back basket that acts like a protective barrier to eliminate interference from other components that may be loaded into the same enclosure. This feature allows the speaker to maintain its integrity and performance, resulting in high-fidelity sound preservation and reduced distortion.

These things are awesome! I had these back in 2010 and have missed them ever since. You cannot beat them for the price. I have these in my tahoe with separate tweeters as a custom “component” set. Great voice/midbass. YOU BUY NOW!
Let me start by saying I am fairly certain, after reading up on their site, that these are for pro audio application, such as sound reinforcement and/or PA drivers. I have a fairly bright and loud Kustom KG210FX guitar amp that really sounds awesome at low to mid volume levels but the speakers seemed to have issue with midrange muddiness in a jam session and not enough clarity at louder levels. Since this amp is mainly my pedal platform I need a lot of clean headroom and the OEM speakers are a paltry 15w@4ohm each, in series, so they were efficient enough but still underpowered for my needs. After swapping them out for the EQ104, I can definitively tell you that they have solved my problems and so much more. The clarity at the same volume as before is crystalline and seemingly far louder than I expected. There's headroom in spades and I cant even push it hard enough to distort even the slightest. It has really tamed the upper registers and gives me the sweet mid tone that I much desire; I can now use the full range of the treble knob. If you're looking to up the game with your pedal setup this is the key to loud punchy power and definition without being overbearing on the highs.
