Supernova Luminous LU-15 PIANO

Earthquake Sound’s Supernova Luminous LU-15 PIANO further expands on the famous MK series of powered subwoofers. When first launched, the MK series immediately put home theater subwoofers on steroids. While THX 1 and 2 required 35Hz at 105dB, the MK series laughed at those numbers. As tested by many, Earthquake’s MKIV 12 beat all subwoofers on the market (measured by Richard Hardesty of Widescreen Review, Dr. John E. Johnson of Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity, and Steven Stone’s Stereophile Guide to Home Theater). Powered by the LM1000 amplifier, this subwoofer packs power, features, and performance in a luxurious black piano finished enclosure. Earthquake’s Supernova Luminous is the product of meticulous engineering, detailed craftsmanship, and passion for performance, all geared to please the audiophile in every one of us.

Proprietary High Excursion Drivers

The high excursion MAGMA-X active driver of the Supernova Luminous is designed to accurately reproduce bass and sub-bass frequencies. With a massive moving structure, this driver operates with extremely low distortion and impressive transient response. The performance is attributed to a non-conventional motor structure design that integrates components such as double-stacked, high-gauge magnets, epoxy-coated super spiders, and over 1-inch of single-layer, thermally pressed poly-ether foam surround. The intelligent design of MAGMA-X with an overbuilt motor system results in a device that is always electrically controlled by the LM1000 amplifier.

SLAPS Passive Radiator Design

Earthquake’s patented Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System (SLAPS) allows the listener to enjoy the benefits of deep bass and full-impact sound effects. SLAPS are tunable passive radiators enabling subwoofers to effortlessly produce more bass at sub-harmonic levels without additional load on the amplifier or increased enclosure volume. Designed to complement all good quality long-throw woofers on the market perfectly, SLAPS adds up to +6dB of bass compared to regular sealed and ported enclosures. The added benefit of being user tunable is that they can be integrated into virtually any subwoofer cabinet combination.

SLAPS is built symmetrically, which distinguishes it from traditional passive devices. Implementing identical components in its suspension design results in identical stoke regardless of forwards or backward motion. The pneumatic coupling between SLAPS and an active driver promotes high efficiency and performance. Simply put, your subwoofer will work more efficiently with a deep, dynamic, and powerful bass response without the traditional shortcomings of other sealed and ported subwoofers on the market today. Reach dominating LFE with Earthquake Sound’s SLAPS technology and hold that annoying port noise.

Optical Distortion Limiting Circuitry (ODL)

Earthquake’s proprietary Optical Distortion Limiting (ODL) circuitry is an LED/LDR circuit that converts an analog audio signal to light and optically couples it to the driver stage. This prevents the amplifier from clipping when the gain is set too high, which limits the distortion to near-nil levels and maximizes the performance of the Supernova Luminous.
