ODL Protection

The Optical Distortion Limiting circuit is a novel design that protects against distortion. The unique aspect of this design is that the audio signal remains immaculate, as ODL is not in the signal path. Traditionally, the signal runs through the protection circuit, complicating the signal path. ODL insulates the protection circuit behind an optical coupler. The original signal continues untouched to the amplifier section. The signal is translated into light, where ODL compares it with the power amp section. The use of light gives ODL a response time unattainable by conventional designs. If ODL detects an overdriven signal that can not be amplified nominally, ODL ensures distortion-free amplification by adjusting the drive level in real-time.

Raw Continuous Power

Like Earthquake’s high-end IQ plate amplifiers, the LM1000 is equipped with a dramatically oversized separate power supply making it capable of delivering raw quantities of continuous brute power. The separate design reduces the mounting depth, thus allowing even smaller subs to be built. The transformer is easily installed in a corner of the cabinet where there is extra space. The transformer is a rigid silicon-steel hard-wound low-regulation toroidal transformer. The large and heavy transformer ensures a stable power supply without voltage drop, even under rigorous and continuous operation. The LM1000 amplifier operates without a sweat, even with demanding 2-Ohm impedances.

About Supernova Luminous Subwoofers

The performance of the Supernova Luminous well exceeds THX requirements of 105dB at 30Hz by far. In flat mode, the Supernova achieves 123dB at 30Hz and reaches upwards of 128dB when the bass boost from an audio processor (source) is used. Better yet, the Supernova Luminous is capable of producing 108dB at 15Hz and nearly 100dB at 10Hz.
