MiniMe DSP P8B Subwoofer

The MiniMe DSP P8 system is designed to dramatically enhance your enjoyment of music and movies at home by adding power and impact to low frequency sound effects without taking up your entire living space. With the continued success of the MiniMe DSP series of home subwoofers, Earthquake felt that a smaller sibling was in order to help complement the line. Just under a foot wide, the MiniMe DSP P8 brings deep, dynamic, and impactful bass to virtually any space or room and utilizes Earthquake’s unique class D circuitry with over 90% efficiency and full DSP control through your mobile device. Complicated and professional room tuning is now made possible right at your fingertips through a mobile app, allowing users to tune the MiniMe DSP P8 for flexible subwoofer placement in any room. Like the 10, 12, and 15-inch models, the DSP P8 offers users some of the same great performance and features like 600 watts of brute peak power output, high-EMF XLT active driver, and a redesigned SLAPS-M8 passive radiator to transform your listening experience.

Without a doubt, the MiniMe DSP P8 is one the best 8-inch subwoofers ever produced by Earthquake and is sure to fill a small to medium-sized room with massive bass for the utmost in sound quality and intense room-rumbling sound effects. It is available in both black or white high gloss piano finishes and with the dual active and passive driver setup. With a compact 10-inch cube enclosure, don’t let the size of this little monster fool you. It offers users high performance and superb bass control with a sound that remains dynamic, punchy, and precise even under hard and continuous operation. Transform your listening experience with the all-new MiniMe DSP P8 subwoofer.

DSP For Optimal Performance

In order to optimize sound and clarity on a subwoofer, it must be tuned properly to its environment. Through an automated room correction process that the iWoofer™ Pro app offers, you will get the customized performance that you deserve and achieve the maximum amount of SPL with a more linear response for your home theater. Up to a 48dB/octave crossover is also available within the application for a steep frequency cutoff.

SLAPS-M8 – Patented Superiority

SLAPS passive radiator technology doubles the radiating surface and allows the DSP P8 to play louder and lower without unwanted port noise distortion. SLAPS technology is a key player in translating the MiniMe DSP P8 amplifier’s high power into dominating LFE. It is a patented system that dramatically increases subwoofer efficiency and capability for ultra-low frequency reproduction. SLAPS stands for Symmetrically Loaded Audio Passive System. As the name indicates, it is built symmetrically, which distinguishes it from traditional passive devices on the market. It integrates identical components in its suspension and design, ensuring the unit moves identically in both directions. The revolutionary efficiency and performance are the result of the pneumatic coupling between SLAPS and the active driver. SLAPS overcomes the limitations known from conventional closed and ported designs that prevent radical excursion and deep response. SLAPS allows the active driver compression-free movement, resulting in deep, dynamic, and hard-hitting bass response. Reach dominating LFE with Earthquake SLAPS technology.

Luxurious Finish

The MiniMe DSP P8 is covered in deep, luxurious black or white piano lacquer. The cabinet finish begins with thorough sanding and priming, followed by multiple applications of black lacquer with additional fine sanding between layers. The cabinet is then finished with a smooth, high gloss clear coat. The elegant piano lacquer complements its sleek modern design and adds sculptural finesse and exclusivity to your home.

Received my Earthquake Sound MiniMe DSP P-10 last week. Set it up using the analog controls for now. I’m blown away with the amount of tight low end I’m getting from this little 10” sub. Hard to believe it’s only 10 inches. After meticulously adjusting the gain, and crossover, I’m getting a perfect blend with my main speaker’s without a hint of boomy sound! This sub is powerful for its size. I’m using it in a room measuring 20X24 feet! I’m sitting about 12 feet from my sound system, and the sub is only about a quarter of the way up in volume, and I’m thinking of lowering one to two ticks - it’s that potent! Earthquake has been in business some 40 years, and they have done their homework! Let me give you a bit of history about myself. In the late 60’s to the later 70’s I worked at Jensen Sound Labs. They were responsible for making the bass reflex enclosure popular. They didn’t invent the bass reflex design, however It became popular after a white paper was published on one such design by James Novak, head engineer at Jensen Sound Labs. I knew him well. It went on to be one of the most popular enclosure designs ever engineered, and is used in many speakers to this day. Many manufacturers have implemented the bass reflex design , and improved it using different techniques. Earthquake decided to use a passive radiator instead of a port in a very unique way. It’s not your standard passive radiator. It’s called SLAPS technology, which guarantees symmetrical compliance and reduces harmonic distortion while doubling the sound pressure level, not to mention zero port noise! Additionally, their amplifiers employ a unique feedback design that controls distortion and clipping, guaranteeing top-quality performance. The DSP, and room calibration feature’s are another animal, which I’ve not yet delved into. Earthquake has probably the best customer support I’ve seen from an audio company. I’ve had the pleasure of speaking with Joseph Sahyoun, the president of Earthquake Sound. Let me tell you this man is absolutely passionate about Earthquake Sound! Coming from a background of Speaker design, Joe knows his stuff, and will explain it to you in great detail! Can’t say enough about their support. Not to mention, they are using top quality components in their subs. From the specially treated foam surrounds, to very high quality Rubicon Electrolytic capacitors in their amplifiers, I see nothing second rate. All this technology is wrapped up in a gorgeous piano lacquer mirror finish - and yes…they even supply white gloves! If you’re thinking of buying a compact, great little subwoofer, just do it. I’m in no way affiliated with Earthquake. These are purely my opinions. Can’t think of a better subwoofer in this size range for the price, and that price is worth every penny!

I have a sunfire, (2) svs4000, (2) svs3000. Non of them are ported. And now I have this earthquake in the main room. The room is about 25WX30DX17H. This little 10inch sub fills the room with ease. For the price this is great value. Two thumbs up so far.

Earthquake is a little known brand in the home theater world. Done the surround thing but was not for me. I use this in a stereo system where music comes first. My system is an Emotiva PT 100 tuner/preamp, Samson active crossover and a Crown XLi 1500 for the bookshelf speakers ( soon to be upgraded ). It took a little time to get dialed in, much like any sub. I use the iWoofer Pro app to control it. It also has a remote for the volume which is not mentioned. Does what any good sub will do. Which is extend the bottom end, nothing more. If overdone car audio bass is what you want look elsewhere. Overall very pleased with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars A " hidden gem " if you have realistic expectations.
